Desari's Enchanted Love Stories

 Legacy's Forbidden Love Part Thirty-one

“She’s not child.” Trey was shocked his hand covering his stinging face he had never imagined his gentle mother could be capable of striking him.
“She’s a baby Trey the same age as your baby brother! And now thanks to you she’s being robbed of her childhood!” Her voice rose as she spoke.
“Mom.” He started…
“It’s bad enough that you seduced her, but than you don’t even bother to protect her. I hope to God you haven’t her and STD.” She raged.
“I don’t have any STD’S.” Trey was appalled that she would think that.
“I’m surprised given all the women you sleep with. It’s only a matter of time before you pick something up.” She replied.
“I practice safe sex Mom, I always have.” Trey grumbled and looked toward his Dad.
“Really than why is that poor girl pregnant?” She asked poking her son in the chest.
“Kristen is an exception.” He muttered. Crap! First his Dad chewed him out and now this. They wanted him to give Kristen to his brother and it wasn’t going to happen!
“You had no right to go after the girl you’re brother loved. I can’t even believe you could stoop so low as to steal from you’re brother. You’ve got women throwing themselves at you and you still feel the need to seduce an innocent girl. You deserve to be behind bars!” Jessica ranted.
“Jess.” John tried to intercede he had never seen his wife so angry.
“No John! That poor girl is in tears because she’s so scared and confused! She told me she thinks she’s a slut because she jumped into bed with you. She blames herself!”
“She’s crying!” Damn Josh she had been happy earlier!
“She’s heartbroken over this.” Jessica said noting the worry on her son’s face.
“Where are you going?” John asked when Trey started out of the room.
“Upstairs, I’m going to talk to Kristen.” He replied.
“I don’t think so, I’m not through with you yet!” Jessica moved to block his path.
“Mom get out of my way. Kristen needs me she shouldn’t be alone if she’s upset.” He told her.
“You need to stay away from her Trey. You’ve done enough damage to her. Let her go Josh will make her happy.” She told her son.
“I already had this discussion with Dad. I’m not giving her up!” He told her struggling to keep his voice even.
“Trey please! You have to do right by her she deserves to be happy.” Jessica pleaded.
“And of course I can’t possibly make her happy?” Trey asked bitterly.
“She’s is going to need lots of love and support to get through this, and we both know you can’t give her those things. All you care about is the company.” She replied.
“Jessica you’re being unfair.” John admonished as he saw the hurt in Trey’s eyes.
“I’m not giving her up.” He said stubbornly.
“It’s her choice son. You’re going to back off and give her the chance to decide what she wants.” John ordered.
“Fine!” Trey conceded tired of arguing with them. He turned and walked toward the desk and picking up a report from the desk he sank into a chair to read the report.
“Are you coming upstairs?” Jessica asked after Trey had taken a seat a chair.
“In a little while. I have some reports to go over.” John answered and watched as his wife left the room. His gaze settled on his son with a thoughtful frown. He knew his son had to be hurting after his mother’s attack on him. He couldn’t believe that Jessica had torn into him like that. He wanted Trey to be happy and for the first time he wondered if he was being fair to his son. His son deserved to have a family of his own he wanted those things for Trey. Studying the cold mask on Trey’s face he realized for the first time that Trey wasn’t happy and that bothered him. His attention had been focused on Josh and his suffering for a long time. He rarely gave any thought to his older son except to yell at him when he got into trouble. “Son, I’m sorry. You’re mother is angry she didn’t mean to strike you. She loves you very much, she’s just upset.” He told Trey as he took a seat behind his desk.
“I know.” Trey said not looking up from the report he was trying to read but he couldn’t get Kristen out of his mind. He needed to talk to her he was worried about her.

After Jessica left the room. Kristen wiped at her tears before rising from the bed, intending to get some air. A wave of dizziness almost sent Kristen to the floor but she managed to stay on her feet. Kristen pulled on a robe and slowly opened the door to the hallway. Now how do I get out? Kristen wondered as she entered the hallway. She remembered that she was on a ranch in Montana. So there must be a barn somewhere, hopefully near the house. Getting out would be the tricky part. Wandering down the long hall, Kristen found some stairs leading down. Reaching the bottom Kristen looked around for a door. Another long hallway with dozens of doors greeted her. How would she ever figure out where she was in this place? Gazing about She wandered down the long hall until she came upon what appeared to be a parlor with glass doors leading outside. Kristen slipped through the doors, unaware that she was being watched.
In a basement room a security guard watched Kristen slip out the doors on a monitor. He quickly picked up a phone and waited for someone to answer. “Hi Boss, I just noticed Miss Kristen going out the doors in the parlor that lead outside. I figured you’d want to know.” With that the security guard goes back to watching the monitors that cover the house.

 Legacy's Forbidden Love Part Thirty

After Trey left the room John called Dino. “I want the video footage of Trey’s meeting with Kristen’s mother.” He ordered. He walked down to the Library to wait for the footage to be delivered. Putting the disc in he watched the meeting between his son and his future mother in-law. He wasn’t surprised by his son’s tactics he just couldn’t believe that he would use them on Kristen’s Mom.
“My God he threatened to kill her!” Jessica said having snuck into the library while John was viewing the tape. She paled as she stared at her son’s cold expression.
“Jess.” John sighed.
“He’s a monster.” She stated unable to believe she had given birth to such a monster.
“Jess, he’s determined to marry Kristen. It was an empty threat to gain her cooperation.” He said rising to his feet to comfort his wife.
“That’s no excuse! And have you given a thought to what this marriage will do to Josh?” She asked shaking her head.
“What can we do she carries Trey’s child and he won’t give her up.” He replied.
“Poor Josh he’s suffered through so much already.” Her heart went out to Josh even as she considered wringing Trey’s neck. He would be a terrible husband and Kristen would suffer terribly. She would be so much better off with Josh.

Later that evening Joshua knocked on the door leading into Kristen’s room, before entering. He found Kristen sitting up in bed having just finished off a bowl of soup. Kristen smiled at him, but Josh didn’t miss the sad look in her eyes. “How are you feeling?” Josh asked sitting down on the edge of the bed. He had to fight down the urge to pull her into his arms and never let her go. But as his brother had said it was Kristen’s choice now.
“I feel better, just really tired...” Kristen replied. How could she turn him down, she didn’t want to hurt him.
“We need to talk about things, but if you’re not up to it I can come back tomorrow.” Josh offered.
“It’s alright, I’m sorry Josh.” Kristen replied. “I never meant to hurt you, it just sort of happened.”
“I know I don’t blame you!” Josh answered. “Trey had no right to do what he did.”
“It wasn’t Trey’s fault, I went with him. I didn’t have to.” Kristen pointed out not wanting Josh to blame his brother. “Things just sort of happened.”
“It doesn’t matter to me Kristen, I love you. And I want you to be my wife.” Josh replied firmly.
“What about the baby?” Kristen asked.
“I want you both.” Josh answered.
“What about Trey, it’s his child.” Kristen reminded him.
“He won’t stand in your way if you choose me, and I won’t stand between him and his child.” Josh promised her.
“I do love you Josh, but I can’t marry you. I have to do what’s right for my baby.” Kristen replied tears welling in her eyes. “I love your brother too.” Tears fell from Kristen’s eyes as she saw the hurt in Josh’s eyes. “Please don’t hate me.” She whispered.
“I don’t hate you; I could never hate you. I love you and I don’t want to see you hurt. Marrying Trey is mistake Kristen and I think you know that after all you’ve run from him twice now.” He told her reaching out to brush her hair back.
“I was running from my mother, not Trey.” She stated.
“Not the first time you weren’t. You ran because you doubted Trey’s intentions.” He said as he shook his head.
“I don’t anymore he wants to marry me.” She replied.
“Because you’re carrying his child not because he wants too. I know my brother he’s going to feel trapped shortly after you say I do. Than where will you be?” He asked knowing he was being unfair to his brother but he intended to get Kristen back.
“He told me he wanted to marry me.” She replied quietly her thoughts racing with doubts. He had never told her he loved her.
“Kristen you’re young and easily seduced, and Trey took advantage of that. But the thing is my brother loses interest in women soon after he’s had them. He’ll use you for sex until he’s had his fill of you than he’ll toss you aside like he has so many others.” Josh stated.
“He cares for me.” But even as she said it she was no longer sure that he did. Was his marriage proposal simply due to the baby? If so where did that leave her?
“I’m sure he thinks he does but he doesn’t love you and you deserve to be loved. I love you with all my heart and will take very good care of you. I promise you you’ll always come first with me.” He told her pressing his advantage.
“I told Trey I would marry him.” She said feeling trapped.
“You can change your mind.” Josh said gently. “Say you’ll be my wife, let me take care of you.” He encouraged leaning down to kiss her. The kiss was long and gentle and tore at her heart.
“Josh I need time to think about this.” She told him when he finally released her lips.
“Take all the time you need just don’t close me out.” He answered. “I’m going to let you get some rest. I’ll come back in tomorrow.” He rose from the bed feeling a measure of relief.
“Ok.” She said softly she was so confused.
“Goodnight.” He leaned down to brush a tender kiss on her lips.

Trey was coming down the hall way when Josh exited the room. One look at his brother’s satisfied expression and Trey knew he was in trouble. Christ! What the hell had he said to her? “You look pleased!” Trey muttered as Josh started passed him.
“You haven’t won I convinced Kristen to reconsider marrying you.” He answered with a shrug.
“Really?” Trey asked fighting to remain calm. Taking Josh’s head off would just make things worst. “What did you say to her?” He grabbed Josh’s arm to stop him.
“The truth! I told her you don’t love her that you’re just using her for sex.” He said jerking his arm out of Trey’s grip.
“What’s going on here?” Jessica asked.
“Nothing!” Trey muttered heading for Kristen’s room. Damn! Josh had gotten him into serious shit! He had expected Josh to back off but it appeared that Josh was actually going to fight him.
“Trey, I want to talk with Kristen.” Jessica stated.
“Mom, not right now I need to talk to her.” Trey shook his head at her. He needed to straighten things out with Kristen.
“Trey! Let your mother talk to the poor girl. I want a word with you downstairs.” John ordered.
“Dad not now!” Trey shook his head.
“Trey needs to do some serious explaining. Kristen has changed her mind about marrying him.” Josh told his parents ignoring his brother’s glare.
“She said that?” John asked exchanging a look with his wife.
“I asked her to marry me and she didn’t say no.” Josh replied. “I think she’s starting to realize Trey is just using her.” Josh told them.
“I’m not using her, I swear Josh you’re going to pay for this.” Trey threatened his face darkening.
“How you’ve already stolen everything I ever loved what more could you do to me.” Josh retorted.
“That’s enough, downstairs now Trey.” John ordered aware that they were headed for another fight.
“You both need to back off that poor girl must be so confused and scared.” Jessica admonished.
“She was fine until Josh talked to her.” Trey grumbled . Jessica reached out to shove Trey aside. He reluctantly stepped aside.

“Hi Kristen, I’m Jessica Harrington.” She greeted warmly. Her heart went out to Kristen she looked so lost and scared.
“Hi.” Kristen replied feeling lost and alone.
“How are you feeling?” Jessica asked pulling up a chair she took a seat next to the bed
“Better.” She answered her thoughts racing. She had never imagined being torn between two men. She had never even had a date before meeting Josh.
“Is there anything I can get you?” Jessica offered with a smile.
“I don’t think so.” It was too bad the Harrington’s didn’t have a time machine because she desperately needed to go back in time and change a few things. She never should have had breakfast with Trey.
“Kristen I know how scared and alone you must feel right now. I’m so sorry that Trey has done this to you. He had no right to do what he did. I’m so disappointed in him he was raised better than this I assure you.”
“I don’t know what to do?” Kristen admitted. “I’m so confused.”
“That’s very understandable given the circumstances.” Jessica replied.
“You must think I’m a slut.” Kristen said feeling ashamed.
“No Kristen I don’t think that.” Jessica shook her head.
“You should, I was dating Josh and as soon as he left town I jumped into bed with his brother and now I’m pregnant.” Tears filled her eyes as she thought about what she had done.
“Kristen, Trey took advantage of your innocence you didn’t do anything wrong.” Jessica assured her. She fully intended to take her son to task for the harm he had done.
“They both want to marry me and I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to hurt either of them. I love them both.” Kristen cried tears streaming from her eyes.
“Kristen you need to calm down. It will all work out. Trey and Josh are grown men who are quite capable of dealing with whatever you decide.” Jessica assured her although she wasn’t sure that Josh would survive losing another woman.
“What should I do?” Kristen asked desperately needing the advice of someone older and wiser.
“You need to do what’s best for you Kristen. You’re young and marrying and having a baby so young is going to be very difficult. You’re going to need a lot of love and support to get through this. You need to choose the man that you feel will take the best care of you.” She advised.
“How do I know which one will take the best care of me” She asked. She knew Josh was gentle and loving and that he was the logical choice, but she was powerfully drawn to Trey, and he was the baby’s father.
“I don’t know what kind of husband Trey would make. He is power hungry and works all the time. His position at Harrington is the most important thing in his life. I know Josh would be a good husband and would take really good care of you.” She answered determined to save this young woman from the heartbreak she would endure if she became Trey’s wife.
“You think I should choose Josh.” Kristen said. “What about the baby?” She asked. How could she marry Josh when she was carrying his brother’s child.
“Josh is a very good father.” Jessica replied.
“Is Trey good with children?” She asked needing to know that Trey would be a good father.
“He’s good with Joshua’s little girl when he around which isn’t very often. Trey travels all over the world on business.” Jessica answered. “I’m going to let you get some rest, will talk more tomorrow.” Jessica rose from her chair after squeezing her hand. “No matter what your choice Kristen I’m very happy to welcome you into my family. You’re going to be a good mother and wife.”
“Thank you.” Kristen was relieved that Jessica liked her she had been afraid that Trey’s family wouldn’t accept her. She knew his Dad didn’t like her, he thought she was a troublemaker.
“Goodnight.” Jessica left the room and headed downstairs to confront Trey. He had done a lot of wrong things over the years but he’d gone to far this time. Jessica’s blood boiled as she thought about Kristen and what her son had done to her. He had robbed the poor girl of her childhood. Somebody needed to put a stop to Trey’s behavior. Her husband favored the boy heavily even though he was a menace. She found Trey in the library arguing with John over Kristen. He still refused to give Kristen up to his brother and that made Jessica even angrier. She walked up to her son her blood boiling and slapped him a crossed the face. “You selfish self centered little boy!”
“Jessica.” John said as he came around his desk toward them. He was shocked Jessica had never struck one of their children before.
“No, stay out of this John.” She held up a hand. “How could you stoop so low as to take a child to your bed?” She asked angrily.

“Dad!” Trey groaned his father looked furious.
“So you lied to me again.” John confronted his son his fists clenching.
“You didn’t leave me much choice.” Trey commented.
“How’s that?” John questioned his face darkening.
“You chose to stand against me in this.” Trey answered facing his father squarely.
“Trey I’m trying to do the right thing for this girl. You had no right to take advantage of her. It’s not fair to expect her to give up her childhood to become a wife and mother. If you really care for this girl you’ll do what’s right for her.” John admonished.
“I am doing what’s right by her. She wants the baby, I gave her the option of taking the morning after pill when I realized she might be pregnant. She not only refused the pill she ran off to keep me from forcing her to take the pill. She wants this baby! And I’m not going to force an abortion on her to suit her mother’s vengeful agenda.” He replied angrily.
“Even if what you say is true you still have to return her to her family.” John stated.
“I sent Damon and the boys out to fetch her family. They should be here soon.” He replied.
“Their coming here? Have you lost your mind? Her Mom will have you arrested for kidnapping for sure.” He said as he pulled his phone out. “Dino, have Arthur prepare a guest room for Miss Anderson. Send up a gurney from the med room.” He ordered when Dino answered.
“Dad she’s not going anywhere.” Trey told him placing himself between Kristen and his father.
“The hell’s she’s not! Use your damn head if her Mom finds her in here it will be all over for all of us.” John said.
“Fine, I’ll carry her to one of the guest rooms.” Trey muttered maybe his Dad had a point. He needed her mother’s cooperation, and pissing her off further wouldn’t help.

Trey stayed in Kristen’s room seeing to her comfort. Kristen was still drifting in an out of sleep, hardly aware of her surroundings. Trey was seated in a chair by her bed, holding her hand. “Kristen, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for my actions to scare you.” Trey told her quietly. “I was trying to protect you not get rid of you.” Trey explained. He wasn’t even sure if she could hear him. Her eyes opened slowly and she looked at him still to out of it to fully comprehend what he was saying. He looked so worried, Kristen thought studying him. Where am I, she wondered?
“Where am I?” Kristen asked weakly in confusion. She was finding it difficult to keep her eyes open.
“You’re in a guestroom on the ranch.” Trey answered.
“How did I get here?” Kristen asked trying to stay awake. She couldn’t seem to clear her head enough to figure anything out.
“I carried you here from my room. It’s not important right now. You’re safe here.” Trey answered afraid of causing her more undo stress. He would answer her questions in time. Kristen seemed to accept his answer. Her eyes closed and she drifted into a deep slumber. Trey leaned over Kristen to place a gentle kiss on her brow, before reluctantly leaving the room.
Chapter Sixteen
Rebecca gazed in wonder at the large guestroom she would be staying in. Who would have thought that she would be standing in the home of the world’s richest family? Or so that’s what her mother claimed. Still the size and beauty of the mansion was very impressive indeed. There could be no argument that these people were very wealthy. The posh elegance spoke for itself. This could be her daughter’s home if she allowed it. But it was too bad for Kristen because she would never allow the union. She didn’t care what Trey offered, she had every intention of seeing him put behind bars.
Jessica arrived that afternoon from Paris. She had flown straight there and back, as she wanted to get home as quickly as possible. The trip had taken forty eight hours, and she had gotten very little sleep. She had spent most of the long trip home fighting with Elizabeth. “That was quick!” John commented embracing his wife as she came into the house. “How was your trip?”
“Long.” Jessica replied.
“Elizabeth.” John greeted with a frown. His daughter was standing behind her mother looking contrite.
“Hi Daddy.” She greeted managing a smile.
“Go up to your room. You’re Father and I will speak to you later.” Jessica ordered her daughter. She watched as Elizabeth climbed the stairs. “How are things here?” She asked when Elizabeth had disappeared from sight.
“Not good.” He answered shaking his head. He quickly filled his wife in on all that had transpired since she left.

Rebecca was led into a beautiful library and seated before a large oak desk behind which Trey was seated with a folder in his hands. “Mrs. Anderson it appears were at an impasse.” Trey said as he flipped through the folder.
I’m not going to allow you to marry my daughter no matter what you offer.” She stated firmly.
“Really. I did some checking into your family, you work as a custodian for a school district. That’s a hard job and you don’t make much. You have two other children. Have you given any thought to their futures? Because you’re not only selling out Kristen’s future you’re selling out theirs as well. I’ve drawn up a contract that will secure your children’s futures. If you allow Kristen to marry me I will provide you with the home of your choosing. I will also pay for your children to attend the best private school and will foot the bill for their college educations. On top of this I will pay you two million dollars every year for the rest of your life. Kristen’s marriage to me will provide your other children with opportunities they would never have otherwise. It’s all in this iron clad contract drawn up by my lawyers. He held up the contract.
“And if I refuse?” Rebecca eyed the contract in his hand.
“With or without your permission I intend to marry your daughter. My Grandfather owns an Island in the Pacific. There’s no extradition to the United States from the Island. I can easily move your daughter to the Island and marry her there. I don’t have to work in the states Harrington is based all over the world. I can easily live outside the states with your daughter until she turns eighteen. At which time will be married in the states. There’s no way for you to win. Sign the contract and give all your children a bright future.”
“I refuse to sit here and listen to your threats. I intend to see you prosecuted for rape.” She warned rising to her feet.
“A very unwise move. Your daughter has a history of mental instability. Our lawyers would tear her creditability apart in court.” He pointed out calmly.
“Why would you want to marry a nutcase?” Rebecca asked curiously.
“Because after meeting you I can understand why she would want to kill herself.” He said coldly.
“I’m leaving.” She turned to leave.
“Very well it’s your choice. But let me make something very clear you will not be taking Kristen anywhere. Fight me if you want but I will not give her up to a heartless bitch that has made her life miserable. In my opinion she would be better off if you were dead. You might consider how easily accidents can happen as well.” Trey said coldly.
“You can’t threaten me.” She said her hand going to her throat. But in that moment she realized Trey was quite capable of ordering her death. She swallowed hard and stared at the contract on the desk. Realizing she had no choice she gave in. Walking toward the desk she signed the hated contract.
“A wise choice.” Trey commented picking up the contract. Rebecca turned and left the room without a word and stormed up to her room. She was furious with Kristen for what she had done and she vowed she would make her daughter pay.

Everyone gathered in the parlor before dinner and we’re seated with various drinks. John and Joshua drank whiskey, hoping to calm their nerves. Jessica enjoyed a glass of wine, while Bernice drank scotch. They all looked up as Trey entered the room.
“I have good news Mrs. Anderson has agreed to allow Kristen to marry me.” Trey informed them.
“What?” Josh asked feeling as if he had been stabbed.
“What? How the hell did you manage that?” John asked suspiciously.
“Everyone can be managed you just have to know how to manage them.” Trey answered with a shrug.
“What did you do threaten to kill her?” Josh asked drawing a glare from Trey.
“No. I just made her see that marriage to me was the right course for her daughter.”
“That’s hard to believe since she informed me when she arrived that she still fully intended to see you prosecuted for rape.” John said. Christ! What had Trey done now? Threatening his future mother in-law was bound to blow up in his face.
“She changed her mind. Mom you better start planning the Wedding. We need to get married quickly. I’m going upstairs to tell Kristen.” He said before turning to leave. No one moved they just stared at one another. Bernice was relieved by the crazy turn of events.
Upstairs Kristen slowly drifted awake, still groggy from the sedatives. At first she was confused by her surroundings, she tried to remember how she came to be in the unfamiliar room. She remembered the hospital, but everything was so foggy. She turned her head to gaze around the room and sees a nurse seated in a chair near the bed, engrossed in a book. When the nurse notices she’s awake she smiles, and gets up. “How do you feel?”

“I’m not sure, I’m so tired.” Kristen commented slowly having trouble concentrating on a single thought.
“It’s the sedatives they make you groggy, but they should wear off soon.” The nurse reassured her. “Can I get you anything?” The nurse asked.
“Water!” She whispered her throat was so dry. A side effect of the drugs. The nurse got a cup of ice water, and helped her raise her head to drink. Kristen gulped down the entire cup. She was just settling back onto the pillows when Trey entered the room. She searched Trey’s face not sure of what she should say. She had behaved like a child, running away the way she had. Was he angry with her for putting his child at risk, she couldn’t tell. She waited in dread.
“I spoke to your mother she has agreed to let you marry me.” Trey told Kristen taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
“She did?” Kristen replied shocked to her core. “I won’t have to go home with her?” Kristen questioned unable to believe what she was hearing.
“No.” Trey didn’t miss the look of relief his news brought. Whatever happened he would make sure she would never have to go home to that bitch, even if he had to kill her to keep Kristen safe.
“You really want to marry me?” Kristen asked searching his face.
“Yes.” Trey said simply his gaze never leaving hers. He wanted her for his wife, but his reasons were less than honorable. He couldn’t love her, he had sworn never too love again. But he could give her everything else the world had to offer. She could have anything her heart desired, except his heart. Still he did feel something for her, and that made him uneasy. She was pushing against the protective wall he’d erected around himself. And he was tempted to let her in, steeling himself against the new feelings. He turned his attention back to Kristen. “Will be married in two months time that will allow time to plan a wedding.” Trey told her.
“Will it be a big wedding?” Kristen asked. Every girl dreamed of having a big wedding.
“Yes, I’m sure it will be a large affair. It’s not everyday that a Harrington marries.” Trey answered with a smile, more than a little pride in his voice. “But you need not worry about the details my mother will handle everything. Just concentrate on getting better.” Trey continued not wanting
to worry her.
“The baby?” Kristen asked fearfully.
“The baby is fine so far, but you need to take care of yourself, no more foolish stunts, please!” Trey cautioned gently.
Kristen nodded her head. “I’m sorry I ran away it was stupid, but I was scared.” Kristen told Trey.
“I know you were I’m sorry I scared you. It wasn’t my intent I was trying to protect you.” Trey answered reaching down to stroke her cheek.
“What about Josh?” Kristen asked quietly.
“He knows were getting married, but he may try to change your mind.” Trey answered honestly. He knew he wouldn’t be able to keep his brother away from her. “Your going to have too talk to him, I won’t be able to shield you from him here. He wants marriage also; you’re going to have to decide.” Trey told her firmly. The thought of her with his brother made him want to take her right there. Remind her of who she belonged too.
“I know.” Kristen said sadly. She would have to tell Josh no. She had to do what was right for her baby, but it would be painful. “My mother really said yes?” Kristen asked. She still couldn’t believe the news. “I didn’t think she would ever agree to let me go.” Kristen commented in wonder.
“She wants what’s best for you, we all do.” Trey lied smoothly. He didn’t intend for Kristen to ever learn her mother had sold her to him. “I want you to try and eat something.” Trey continued in an effort to change the subject. “You need to eat if you’re going to regain your strength.
“I’ll try,” Kristen promised “but I’m not very hungry.” “I’m so tired; it’s hard to keep my eyes open.”
“I know, but please try to stay awake long enough to eat something. Maybe it would help if you were sitting up.” Trey replied. “Let me help you sit up a bit more.” Trey reached out to lift her to a sitting position, placing pillows behind her back.
“Thank you.” Kristen replied.
“I’ll have the kitchen bring something up for you.” Trey told her, rising to leave.
“Will you come back?” Kristen asked.

“Yes, I’ll come by after dinner.” Trey promised, leaning down to kiss her lips lightly. And than he was leaving, the door closed quietly behind him. Kristen sank back on the pillows with a happy sigh. She was going to be his wife, and just the thought of sharing a bed with him every night warmed her blood. Her happy thoughts quickly disappeared as she thought about Josh. He didn’t deserve to be hurt.

 Legacy's Forbidden Love Part twenty-eight

“Trey, it’s Ty I’ve got a big problem. I met this girl down by the stables and brought her up to the house, and now she won’t wake up what should I do? Dad’s going to kill me!” He quickly told his brother when he answered.
“Relax, women often pass out after sex.” Trey replied shaking his head at his younger brother’s antics.
“It’s not like that I haven’t had sex with her yet. She passed out while I was carrying her here and now she won’t wake up. I think she needs a Doctor.” He replied running a hand through his hair he was starting to sweat. What if she died?
“Where are you?” Trey sighed.
“In room B101.” He answered feeling relieved.
“I’ll be right down.” Trey said as he closed his phone. “Damon we need to go downstairs my brother has an unconscious woman on his hands.”
“He sure gets around.” Damon commented with a grin. They made their way into the secret passage way and down into underground tunnels. Trey entered the room and found his brother hovering over Kristen who appeared to be dead.
“Kristen? What the hell have you done Tyler!” He said as he shoved his brother out of the way to bend over Kristen. He didn’t start breathing until he felt her pulse.
“You know her?” Tyler asked surprised by his brother’s violent reaction.
“Damon call the Doctor and tell him to get his ass over here.” Trey ordered as he bent over Kristen to shake her.
“I didn’t do anything to her I swear. I don’t know why she passed out.” Tyler quickly explained.
“She’s pregnant, and should be in hospital not running all over the place.” Trey commented not glancing up his attention focused on Kristen.
“Pregnant? You got her pregnant? Dad’s going to be pissed!” Tyler said feeling disappointed that the girl apparently belonged to his brother. He had wanted her but now he would have to back off.
“Dad knows about it. I’m going to take her up to my room.” He said as he picked her up from the bed cradling her in his arms. He carried her upstairs to his bedroom and placed her on the bed.
“Go downstairs and wait for the Doctor.” He ordered Damon who nudged Tyler out of the room. Trey quickly removed her clothes and put one of his t-shirts on her. Pulling the covers up he tucked her in and sat on the edge of the bed to wait for the Doctor. A few minutes later Kristen stirred awake.
“Trey.” Her voice was husky and she blinked several times to clear her vision.
“Thank God! How do you feel?” He asked anxiously.
“I’m ok, where am I.” She asked feeling confused. Every time she woke up these day it was to a different bed.
“You’re in my room at the ranch. You passed out and I brought you here.” He answered.
“Your brother grabbed me and kissed me and than he tossed me over his shoulder and wouldn’t let me down.” She remembered bits and pieces but it was all really hazy.
“Tyler kissed you?” Trey asked with a frown.
“Will pulled him off me and made him stop, but he came back.” She nodded as her memory started to clear a bit.
“What were you doing down at the stables? How did you get here?” He would handle Tyler later.
“I hitched a ride with a truck driver he brought me out to the ranch and dropped me off. I pretended to be a ranch employee.” She was still groggy her voice husky. She was so tired that she fell back asleep feeling safe at last. Trey stroked her hair gently. How could one innocent woman turn his well ordered world upside down. He had been with far more experienced women and yet none had been able to stir in him what she did. When the Doctor arrived Trey went downstairs to allow the Doctor to examine Kristen. Tyler was sitting on the couch watching tv.
“How is she?” He asked as he flipped through the stations.
“The Doctor’s examining her. She says you kissed her?” Trey commented.
“I did, I didn’t know she belonged to you.” Trey answered honestly he knew better than to lie to his older brother.
“Didn’t she tell you who she was?” He wondered as his gaze settled on his little brother.
“I didn’t give her the chance I just walked up to her and kissed her. She half heartedly resisted and Will pulled me off of her. He told Dad I tried to rape her so now I’m grounded for two months.” To his credit Tyler returned his brother’s stare without squirming.
“Do you make it a habit of just walking up to women and kissing them?” Trey asked with a slight grin.
“Only when there really hot.” Tyler replied with a grin.
“I guess I can’t fault your taste. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
“Are you going to marry her?” Tyler wondered aloud.
“Yes.” Trey nodded and than nearly groaned as his father stormed into his room.
“Tyler what the hell are you doing in here I told you to stay in your room.” John growled at his younger son.
“It’s my fault Dad I asked Tyler to come. I thought he could help me search for Kristen.” Trey quickly covered for his younger brother stepping between his father and Tyler.
“Did he mention he was grounded.” John demanded.
“Yes, I told him to come anyway.” Trey said he had always protected his younger brothers and frequently took the heat for their mistakes.
“So now you’re not only lying to me you’re undermining my authority.” John’s voice rose in anger. “Tyler go to room and if I catch you out of it again you’ll be eighteen before you see the light of day again.
“Yes Sir.” Tyler said and made his getaway grateful that his brother had covered for him, but than Trey could always be counted on.
“Any word on Kristen?” John asked.
“No.” Trey lied praying the Doctor would stay hidden.
“Why aren’t you out searching?” John asked suspiciously.
“I’m grabbing something to eat before I head back out.” He answered.
“Fine, but I expect you to call me as soon as you hear something, or suffer the consequences.” John warned him before turning to leave.
“You’re Dad’s going to be pissed when he finds out she’s sleeping upstairs in your bed.” Damon cautioned him.
“I know but he’s left me with no other choice. He’s supporting her mother.” Trey snapped.
“He’s trying to do what’s right.” Damon commented.
“Killing my child is the right thing?” Trey glared at Damon his fists clenching.
“You’re Dad is looking at the big picture Boss. He thinks she’s too young to be a wife and mother.”
“And you agree?” Trey grumbled. Christ! His own men were turning on him.
“I didn’t say that.” Damon shrugged. “She clearly loves and wants to be with you, it’s there in her eyes whenever she looks at you. But you need to start doing what’s right for her and hiding her away from her family isn’t right. She’s scared to death and has run twice now. She needs stability and security or you’re going to lose them both.” Damon wasn’t one for words he rarely spoke but it was his job to protect Trey even from himself.
“Christ! Now my own employees are lecturing me.” Trey muttered shaking his head. “Go get her family and bring them to the ranch. It’s time to settle things.” Trey told him after a moment. Damon nodded and left the apartment to round up the men.

John was in the library flipping through files as he tried to concentrate a difficult task. He was worried about Josh who was out searching for Kristen. Losing Kristen was going to hurt him bad, but Trey clearly wasn’t going to budge on the issue. Hurting one of his brother’s was completely against Trey’s nature. He had always protected Josh and Tyler. John was well aware that Trey was in the habit of taking the heat for his brother’s mistakes. His oldest son had a strong protective streak. And now it appeared that protective streak had been extended to Kristen. Trey would be a good father he knew but he had doubts about Trey being a good husband. There was very little gentleness in Trey and his bitterness toward women worried him.
“Boss.” Dino greeted as entered the library.
“Any word on Kristen?” John asked setting aside the file in his hand.
“She upstairs in Trey’s room.” Dino answered.
“What?” John asked. “That’s impossible I was just up there.”
“She’s there. Arthur escorted a Doctor up to Trey’s room an hour ago. I’ve called off the search and the men are returning.” Dino reported.
“Damn him he lied to me again!” John ranted rising from his chair. He stormed out of the room and upstairs to his son’s apartment. Entering the living room he headed for the stairs leading up to his son’s bedroom. He found Trey talking to the Doctor beside his bed where sure enough Kristen lay sleeping.

 Legacy's Forbidden Love Part twenty-seven

Chapter Fifteen

Kristen had purchased a ticket back to Spokane and had boarded the bus but at the last minute she had changed her mind and got off the bus. She couldn’t go to the farm her Dad would just send her back to her mother. And she wouldn’t be safe on the ranch. Leaving the bus station she walked down the street. She needed to find Trey he was her only hope but she didn’t know how to contact him. She had enough money to board a city bus that would take her to the outskirts of Billings. She knew the Harrington’s had a big ranch, she just needed to find a way to get there. She had gotten the address from the ranch from a phone book. Getting off the bus she stumbled down a road and was relieved when she finally came a crossed a truck stop. She was exhausted and nearly fell over several times. Entering the truck stop she decided to ask around to see if anyone could give her a ride to the Harrington ranch. To her surprise she found a truck with the Harrington Ranch symbol on it. She waited by the truck until an older man in his fifties showed up.
“Excuse me Sir, I was wondering if you might be headed out to the Harrington Ranch?” She asked him.
“I am.” The man answered looking her over.
“Do you think you could give me a ride. I just started working at the ranch and my car won’t start and I need to get to the ranch before I get fired.” She lied.
“I guess.” The man grumbled after a moment. He noted her jeans and t-shirt and figured she was a ranch hand. Climbing up into the truck Kristen rode out to the ranch. Arriving at the ranch she got off the truck and was promptly introduced to the assistant foreman as an employee.
“You’re late.” Ray told her with a frown. He couldn’t ever remember ever seeing her before. Will must have just hired her he thought.
“I’m sorry, my car broke down.” She told him quickly.
“Hmm, Well go get started in the barn feeding the horses.” He instructed. Turning Kristen headed for the huge barn. When she entered the barn she immediately felt at home some of the tension easing from her body. She did as she was instructed and helped to feed and water the many horses. She loved horses and had always wanted one of her own. She paid particular attention to a filly named Dancer. She talked gently to the hose as she brushed her off. The little filly was beautiful. All black with white stockings. When she finished feeding the horses she started to work on the empty stalls that needed to be mucked out. Will the ranch foreman made his way through the barns inspecting them and giving orders. He paused briefly to watch Kristen work. He couldn’t remember ever seeing her before. Ray must have just hired the kid he thought as he walked away. The girl appeared to be a good worker if a little small for ranch work.
Tyler Harrington made his way through the barn he had stayed out all night with one of his many girlfriends. Both his parent’s were away from the ranch and he had taken full advantage of the situation. He was exhausted from the long night and looking forward to crashing for the rest of day. As he passed through the barn his eyes passed over a stall where a woman was hard at work. Tyler felt a jolt as his eyes moved over her paying particular attention to the way her jeans hugged her body. She appeared to be young not much older than him he figured. Entering the stall Tyler walked up behind her and grabbing her on a whim he kissed her catching the woman off her guard. Kristen was too stunned to move at first remaining passive in his arms as drugged up as she was her first thought was that Trey had found her. So she kissed him back. She didn’t start to struggle until Tyler pressed her into the wall his hand covering her breast. Tyler ignored her feeble struggles deepening the kiss he was intent on having her. Will walked by the stall and discovered Kristen struggling to get free of Tyler’s grip.
“What the hell are you doing?” Will asked grabbing Tyler and pulling him off of Kristen who stumbled back.”
“Who are you?” She asked putting a hand to her lips. He bore a striking resemblance to Trey.
“Tyler Harrington, let me go Will I was just having a little fun.” He told Will as he tried to pull his arm loose.
“This young lady is an employee of the ranch; you had no right to attack her.” Will replied with a deep frown.
“I’m a Harrington! She works for me!” He pointed out with a smirk.
“The hell she does, you know the rules.” Will muttered he liked this young woman for some reason and was very upset with Tyler. “Get out of here.” He ordered Tyler.
“Fine.” Tyler agreed hoping Will wouldn’t tell his father about the incident.
“I’m sorry about that Miss it won’t happen again he assured the frightened girl after Tyler had disappeared from sight.
“It’s ok.” She replied her body still tingling from Tyler’s kisses. She was exhausted and confused, some how she would have to make it up to the main house which was over a mile away. Will left her to storm back to his office.

“He did what?” John asked an hour later when he arrived home to find Will waiting on the steps of their mansion.
“Tyler attacked one of my female employees I had to pull him off of her.” He repeated.
“You must be mistaken Will are you sure it wasn’t mutual?” John asked.
“It wasn’t she was struggling to get free of his grip when I arrived. Poor kid was scared to death.” Will insisted.
“I’ll talk to my son it won’t happen again.” John sighed. Tyler was just like Trey always in some sort of trouble. He entered the house, ordering Arthur to locate Tyler and send him to the library which ended up be a useless order as Tyler was seated at his Father’s desk surfing on his Dad’s computer.
“Hey Dad you’re home.” Tyler rose to greet his Father.
“Yes, I’m glad you’re here son, I just had a very interesting conversation with Will. He says you attacked one of his hands.” John said as he walked around his desk to take a seat.
“He’s lying.” Tyler said with a shrug.
“Will doesn’t lie.” John grumbled.
“He misinterpreted the situation.” Trey said.
“Really he says that the woman in question was struggling to be free.” He pointed out.
“She was not she was totally in to it. You know how girls are one minute they want it the next they don’t.” He replied.
“Dammit Tyler! You know the rules no messing around with employees! That girl could sue over this!” He yelled losing his temper. He was already furious with Trey who was still missing.
“Sorry Dad, but this girl is really hot.” He said looking contrite.
“I don’t care how hot she is you stay the hell away from her!” He ordered trying to rein his temper in a bit. Where the hell was Trey?
“Ok.” Tyler agreed holding up his hands he had never seen his Dad so pissed.
“Go to your room, and stay there. I’ll deal with you later.” John dismissed. He sank into his chair as Tyler walked from the room.
Trey returned to the ranch to shower and eat. Kristen seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth. Where could she be? His men were tearing Billings apart looking for her but still no word. John was waiting for his son when he emerged from the bathroom after showering.
“Where is she?” John demanded.
“I don’t know.” Trey answered walking toward his closet. He was exhausted and had been up for over twenty-four hours.
“Trey you need to return her to her family. You’re in a world of trouble.” John told him following his son into the closet.
“I don’t know where she is, but if I did I sure as hell wouldn’t return her to that bitch.” He muttered.
“Trey be reasonable you’re not doing this girl any good. She scared to death and on the run.” John told him hoping to reason with his son.
“She’s running from her Mom not me.” He replied as he pulled his clothes on.
“You need to back away son, before you end up behind bars.” John stated.
“I’m not going to end up in jail, Grandpa would never allow it.” Trey said as he buttoned his shirt.
“You’re facing rape charges.” John reminded him.
“It’s my word against hers and we both know that our Lawyers will make short work out of any Prosecutor.”
“Trey are name carries a great deal of weight but being a Harrington will only get you so far. We are not above the law!” John said with a worried frown.
“Tell that to Grandpa.” Trey replied with a slight smile.
“Even if you beat the rap you’re reputation will be destroyed and Harrington Enterprises will take the brunt of the scandal.” He told his son.
“Relax Dad, I’ll take care of her mother.” He replied as he tied his tie.
“How? Are you going to kill her?” He asked his face darkening. His son was becoming more like his father every day.
“No.” He assured his Dad. “Everyone can be managed I just have to figure out what buttons to push.”
“What about you’re brother, he’s crushed?” John asked.
“I’m sorry about Josh, I don’t want to hurt him. But it can’t be helped. If she wasn’t pregnant I would back off but she is.” He stated.
“If you don’t back off you’re going to destroy you’re brother. I suggest you think about that!” John told him before turning away in disgust.

Darkness was falling when Kristen wandered out of the barn. She had hid in the barn until the other hands had left for the day. She needed to find a way to sneak up to the house but the house was well guarded by guards. And if she was caught they would most likely turn her over to Trey’s Dad and he didn’t like her. She walked among the outbuildings slowly taking them in and familiarizing herself the layout of the ranch. She stopped by a fence to admire some horses in a corral. Her heart nearly stopped when someone grabbed her.
“I got you now!” Ty said as he picked her up tossing her over his shoulder he walked back toward the house intending to sneak her in through the secret passage way.
“Stop put me down.” She cried beating her fists on his back but it did no good. He simply tightened his hold on her and continued to walk with her. Slipping into the secret passage way he took her to one of the underground bedrooms housed under the mansion. There were extensive tunnels and rooms under the mansion. Slipping into a bedroom he dropped her on the bed before turning to lock the door. When he turned back she still hadn’t moved. He spent the next several moments trying to wake her up but nothing worked. Christ what the hell was wrong with her. He hadn’t hurt her he’d just carried her up to the house! He paced back and forth by the bed trying to figure out what to do. He couldn’t very well call a Doctor his Dad would kill him for sure especially since he was supposed to be in his room. He’d have to call Trey, he was sure his brother would help him out. Pulling his phone out he dialed Trey’s cell.
